In order to manage his workload and fitness, England’s Test captain, Stokes, decided not to play in the 2024 Indian Premier League. After being acquired by the team for INR 16.25 crore, he was only able to play in two games in the IPL 2023 because to a series of ailments.
The former all-rounder for South Africa, Pretorius, had little action during Chennai’s successful 2023 IPL season. After Chennai defeated the Gujarat Titans in the IPL, Rayudu had already retired, while Jamieson was out for the 2023 season with a back ailment.

South Africa bowler Sisanda Magala, who was also sidelined by injuries in the 2023 IPL, Bhagath Varma, Subhranshu Senapati, and Akash Singh, who participated in a few games with the team during the previous IPL season, are among the other players discharged by Chennai.

With a purse of INR 32.1 crore, Chennai still has six spots available in their squad, three of which are abroad. They will now try to get tickets for the December 19 IPL mini-auction in Dubai.
